The following workshops are being held after the Symposium:

Epidemiology-Biosecurity Workshop
29 - 30 November 2002
Gold Coast International Hotel
Fee : AUD$150

(includes room hire, morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas as well as accommodation for speakers who will donate their time).

A two-day workshop on the epidemiological aspects of biosecurity at the zone, national and international levels will be held on 29 - 30 November 2002 after the 5th Symposium on Diseases in Asian Aquaculture.

The purpose of the workshop is to assist participants to gain a better understanding of the epidemiological principles underpinning disease surveillance, zoning and import risk analysis in aquatic animal health.

Asian-Pacific Regional Program on Molluscan Health Management Phase II: Training Workshop and Evaluation of Country-Specific Survey Results
29 November - 4 December 2002 inclusive

(includes registration, accommodation, meals, contribution for trainers and room hire).
A 5 1/2-day training workshop in mollusc histopathology and diagnosis will follow DAA5. Reference material will be examined together with histological and other preserved items from country-specific surveys. Discussion of data collectionissues is planned together with standardisation of diagnostic methods, the Quarterly Asia-Pacific Aquatic Animal Diseases Reporting System for Molluscan Diseases, and Emergency Response procedures. A concept for the Phase III Workshop will be developed.

Students are invited to attend a student reception sponsored by the World Aquaculture Society. Attendance is for students only.

Cost: AUD$35 per person (beverages at individual's expense)

Enjoy a relaxing evening at one of Surfers Paradise's icons - the Hard Rock Cafe. A traditionsl Aussie BBQ will be served (free of pork products). Tickets are AUD$35 per person which includes food only. Beverages will be at your own cost.

Symposium Diner
Thursday 28 November 2002 - Sea World
1900 - 2200 hours

The dinner will be one of the Symposium highlights as it includes a behind the scenes tour of Sea World. After the tour, delegates will be able to enjoy a sumptuous banquet. Attendance is included for all registrants. Additional tickets may be purchased for AUD$95 per person which includes coach transfers.

Aquaculture Farm Technical Tour
Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture Farm, Woongoolba
Cost: AUD$25 per person
Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture is a large prown hatchery and growout farm located near the Logan River. A bus will take participants to the farm and on a tour around the ponds and facilities. Refreshments will be provided.

OPTION 2
Golf Afternoon
Palms Couses, Sanctuary Cove Resort
Cost: AUD$85 per person

The Palm Course at Sanctuary Cove is a world renowned championship golf couse. Take the time with colleagues for a friendly golf competition. Includes coach transfers and a golf cart.

Experience Australian wildlife at the magnificent Currumbin Sanctuary where you will be able to feed kangaroos and other Australian wildlife. The native bird feeding is a spectacle not to be missed. Includes park entry and coach transfers.

DELEGATE FUNDING

Limited financial support may be available to students and young scientists from developing Asian countries who have been accepted for oral or poster presentations. Please note that to apply for funding, you must provide a letter of recommendation and a short curriculum vitae (no more than 1 A4 page) to the Symposium managers on email daa5@ozaccom.com.au
